Blogging: How to Blog and Monetize Your Blog
March 18, 2013
If you are just starting out as a writer then I highly recommend that you get a blog. There are different sites that you can get a blog through for free. Having a free blog is a great way to start out, but keep in mind that you are going to want to eventually get a paid blog with a domain name. This is important because you never know when your blog will get wiped out.
I know this from personal experience. I had a blog on a wonderful platform that I devoted an abundant amount of time on. I had spent at least two hours a day, sometimes more, working on my blog. I had followers, 52 actually, and I had only been blogging for about two weeks at this time. I was giving people information that they couldn't find anywhere else. Honest reviews of different sites. One day I had a comment from a follower, asking about how to start her own blog. I used her comment to write the next blog, I wrote an amazing response and then I hit the publish button,..I went to view my last blog post to make sure it looked alright and that there were no spelling mistakes,...and in a big RED BOX it said "YOUR BLOG HAS BEEN DEACTIVATED YOU HAVE 48 HOURS TO CONTACT SUPPORT"!! So of course I contacted them, I had so much time devoted in that blog, I didn't want to lose it. They emailed me back about four days later and said that my blog deactivation was irreversible,..no reason was given. Apparently in their TOS (Terms of Service) it states that they can shut you down whenever they want, without just cause. I lost EVERYTHING,...Including my readers and followers. :( That was an awful day.
Anyways, back to free blog platforms. There are a couple free blog platforms that I recommend. I am not saying these are perfect BUT after talking to many others these are the safest free ones. (less chance of being shut down) I highly recommend Blogger at Blogger.com. You are able to have as many pages as you want and you can write about whatever you want. You can even advertise. Once your blog is established and you are making money you can upgrade to a paid version. The only downfall to using the free version is you can't separate your blogs into categories, but I solved this by just making a new page for each different topic or category. Other then that I have NO complaints about blogger.com. You can actually check out my blog if you would like. FYI: For Your Information! @ http://thecorneroftruths.blogspot.com and my other blog, Earn A Living Online @ http://waystoearnanonlineliving.blogspot.com.
Another blogging site that I highly recommend is the one we are on right now, Weebly.com. With Weebly you can write about whatever you want and you can have either two free blogs or a free blog and a free website if you would like. You can advertise. You can build a eCommerce site. The options are endlesss. Have as many pages as you want and your blog can have categories. You can also get a paid version. There are a lot more options for you on Weebly.com then at Blogger.com. Both sites are wonderful though, so either one is a perfect choice.
Many people also like wordpress. I personally don't care for them (just being honest) because they are the ones that shut down my blog for no reason. But the choice is yours. They have many different options like the above two sites, but with their free blog you can not post affiliate links, you can not use Google Adsense, or anything that will earn you money.
If you use Weebly.com or Blogger.com, both sites allow you to make money by using Google Adsense and other paying advertising sites. There are requirements that Google Adsense has, such as you have to have a certain number of pages in your blog before you can advertise for them and earn.
When setting up your blog, make sure that your domain name (or subdomain name, if your using a free blog) has specific keyword phrases in it, like mine above is "Make Money Online Tips, Tricks and Techniques", these are commonly searched for keyword phrases, and it will put your blog higher up in the relevant searches. Also, do the same with page titles and add keywords inside the blog. Do not over-saturate with keywords, or Google won't approve your blog for Adsense advertising.
I hope this helps you and I look forward to hearing your comments and answering your questions. Be sure to check back regularly as I will be updating and adding information quite often.
Freelance Writer's Earning An Online Income
March 18, 2013
There are many options for freelance writers to earn a decent honest income online, doing what you love. You won't earn an income instantly, but over a course of a short period of time, you will gain more clients, get more writing jobs and before you know it your making a good income.
I am going to give you a few tips and tricks to earning money as a writer over the next few days. Everyday I will write about a different way for you to start earning. The one thing you need to remember is that in order to make money you have to work.
Being a writer takes patience and the ability to write, and write well. Anyone can write, but the quality of your writing is what is going to sell your articles and make you money.
You are going to want to sign up for Elance. The first thing you want to do after you sign up is verify your account through the email that they send to you. After your account is verified, log in and start working on your profile. Make sure that you sell yourself well. Don't add too many links to your profile but do add a link to a website that you have a published article, blog or e-book posted on. A great place for you to publish your work, for experience and to use to retain work and gain clients is Selfgrowth.com. (look me up once your there) Selfgrowth allows you to make a profile and submit articles, about 24 to 48 hours later your article will be published. Use these articles as a work sample and to brand yourself as an author, journalist and experienced writer. Another great tip: HAVE YOUR OWN BLOG! ( like this one) Keep it updated and link it to your profiles on selfgrowth and Elance and any other sites your a part of.
Be very detailed about your skills. If you can write articles, blog posts, reviews, e-books, sales copy, etc make sure that you include all of that. Elance will send you your job recommendations daily based on your skills.
Check your emails when you get them and check the job opportunities frequently ( a few times a day). If you find a job your interested in, and believe that you can do well, then write a proposal and submit it. Your proposal is very important, so make sure it stands out, add any links to your blogs and published articles in this proposal. When trying to figure out your rate of pay for the job, look at the average proposal rate, the high and the low, then think about how much time it is going to take you to complete it. Do not low-ball yourself, this may mean you won't get all the jobs you want but if someone wants quality writing then they are going to pay for it.
Once your proposal has been submitted, it may take a few days to get accepted if you do. Don't let it get to you if you get denied, just keep submitting proposals. You will get a job.
I personally submitted over 20 proposals before I got an acceptance. Once I got my first job, within 24 hours after I received 2 more jobs. So in about 48 hours I was hired for $150 worth of work.
Keeping in touch with the employer is very important. Make sure you can handle being critiqued and that you can meet deadlines. Not all of the jobs have deadlines but that doesn't mean that you want to put it off until the last minute.
Make sure you know EXACTLY what the employer wants because some of the jobs are vague, so get all of the details you can.
Once you have written the article, blog or whatever you were hired to do, run it through duplichecker.com, this will allow you to make sure your work is original, so there are no issues. You want all content to be original, unless the employer says otherwise (which is rare)
After the job is complete make sure you go to Elance and check job completed so that you can get paid. After you do this and the employer does this, Elance will release your money to your paypal account.
You can work on as many jobs as you can handle at a time, but do not place all of your eggs in one basket. Sign up to as many freelance writing sites as you can handle. The more sites your signed up to the more money you can make.
I wish you luck and much success!!
